I agree with this. I don’t buy fakes but I also don’t pay thousands for the real either. I buy what I like a department stores because I can find the look I like there. If they’re designed like something expensive I wouldn’t know it. I can actually afford to buy luxury brands I just find it a waste of money which is probably why I can afford it if I want because I’m not wasting money on shit that’s not worth it

i have stood on this my entire life. over consumerism at its finest. u cannot claim u care about the issues in fast fashion and overconsumption but constantly buy fake purses that will all be forgotten abt in the landfill in a few years. I pay for the quality of my bag, if i love a design i want it to last a lifetime: not a couple years. i also went to fashion school and have multiple certifications in bag making and authentication and can tell u first hand how much work goes into creating them from start to finish, my money goes toward their artistry and i am okay with that

If you’re buying a fake, you want people to think that you can afford the real thing. If you wanted a nice handbag, you would buy something that has no logo or known brand. There are so many vintage options, I will never understand why people waste their money on fakes. And the people trying to justify it by saying it’s all from the same place – no it’s not. I have a 35 year-old Louis Vuitton bag, that I would put up against your Canal Street any day.

That authentic bag does NOTHING for your portfolio. I still have the look that I want and the bag I like when walking out of my big ass house on 3 wooded acres with a pond. It’s not about status for me it’s about what I choose to spend my money on. If I have $2000 of disposable income am I going to spend all of it on a bag that loses value the moment you buy it or the moment it shows signs of wear, or am I going to buy the $500 bag and invest the $1500? I will always invest the $1500. These authentic bags will not have me or my wallet in a chokehold.

I only buy authentic bags; however, I understand buying fakes. These bags are incredibly expensive, yet very cute and I understand not being able to afford or not wanting to spend that quantity. I will never judge a girl for wanting what’s in style ✌🏼

My richest friend owns 21 properties. She doesn’t buy expensive bags. She has 5 vacation homes, fabulous cars and jewelry. She has some great fake bags everyone thinks they’re real!

I agree with you. The ones purchasing fake a) want the prestige without the investment. b) are willing to support people involved in illegal activities (making replicas). c) lie to themselves claiming they are made in same factory (people believe things to justify their decisions). People that purchase fake are fake (wanting appearance of genuine) and lack moral integrity. If the brand/logo were Not important to them, they wouldn’t be buying them. -signed, the person with a doctorates who studies human behavior.
