Ses banı niçin var? Nefret içerikli küfür tarzı saldırı eylemlerinde bulunduklarında haklı olarak susturulmaları için. Haliyle böyle bir paylaşımı binbaşı olarak doğru bulmuyorum!

What if the Marshmallow Study didn’t really prove what an entire generation was taught it proved? 🍬 Many of us grew up with some version of this message: Work hard. Follow the rules. Delay gratification. Make good choices. ➡️ You’ll succeed. And if someone wasn’t successful? Maybe they just didn’t work hard enough. The famous Marshmallow Study seemed to support that idea: preschoolers who waited longer for a second treat appeared to have better outcomes years later. But later research complicated that story. When researchers revisited the findings in a larger, more diverse sample and accounted for factors like family background, socioeconomic circumstances, and early cognitive ability, the relationship between waiting and later achievement became much smaller. Other research has also shown something incredibly important: a child’s willingness to wait can depend on whether they believe the adult—and their environment—can actually be trusted to deliver what was promised. Maybe eating the marshmallow isn’t simply a failure of “self-control.” Sometimes your experience has taught you that when something is available now, you take it—because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. Hard work matters. Perseverance matters. Choices matter. But so do stability, opportunity, poverty, education, family resources, discrimination, community, luck, and whether the systems around you actually keep their promises. Success is not a perfect measure of virtue. And struggle is not proof that someone didn’t try hard enough. That feels like an important lesson—for ourselves AND for the kids we’re raising. ❤️ #MarshmallowStudy #Parenting #ChildDevelopment #Psychology #Pediatrics
