It was supposed be the Dance of the Dragons, it was supposed to be Targaryen infighting that destroyed their empire. Alicent has too much of a role and Aegon too lesser of a role.

The Netflix model of 6-8 episodes in a season (even if those episodes are 2-3 hours long has ruined in-depth storytelling and I'll die on that hill.

I find it so weird how characters don’t even feel human. Alicent doesn’t grieve her father, Helaena doesn’t grieve her grandfather. Even with their complicated relationship I would expect to see some mixed emotions from them. Same with Aegon and Helaena loosing their child. Phia and Tom requested more scenes with them grieving their child together and were refused. We get unnecessary incest and sx scenes. It’s so odd how they can’t explore characters emotions, they leave the audience to just assume how everyone is feeling.

The Fire and Blood book (havent finished) reads like this series shows... flat. there was a lot of room to flesh out motivations and characters. it's not like the GoT books at all. If this was their source material that might be the problem. the book just feels like a historical overview and not a novel which i guess it is. i think it really says something about the shows writing since it can't be a direct adaptation of the book cause the book doesnt have much going on at all

every time the show moves away from the book it's awesome and interesting. a rare film adaptation that is much better than its source material. george is hardly the paragon of a great storyteller that he was ten years ago.

They would have been well served to decide on a single big series theme that allowed characters to have direction and consistency. The closest they’ve come is making Jaehaerys right and Rhaenys wrong by magically making Rhaenyra incompetent for no reason whatsoever.

The straight up character assassination of the main characters and removal of an important side character really hurt this show because I’m not rooting for anyone.

I’m convinced show structure, runners and writers have absolutely destroyed this story. It’s a crying shame because the cast they have to deliver material is second to none. And, unfortunately, the people who bankroll it will never see it that way.

Every episode feels to regular and calm. There are no heroes or villians which makes things boring. I need to pick a side and I just dont care who wins the thrown.

… because maybe they aren’t exactly in love? They’re in lust because there’s an active war going on and they could die any day. For whatever scientific reason, that makes people horny. Not to mention their personal baggage.
