They want to make DIY seem like something to be ashamed of, because the more we learn to do things ourselves, the less money they make. They don't actually care what you're doing; they simply want to condition you to doubt yourself and choose the "better" option, which, conveniently, is paying them. There is a clear conflict of interest.
