While I love his “Berlin”, I actually found Beevor’s “Stalingrad” even more engrossing. (Just my opinion, of course)

A pretty Euro- centric pov. Try ‘Hirohito’s War’ by Francis’s Pike. Encapsulates the entire Asian / Pacific war. For WW2 you can’t go past Liddell- Hart.

History of War by John Keegan should be read by everyone. I seriously love his analysis of war from a historical and cultural perspective.

An imersive dive into the Peninsula War would be Chsrles Oman's 7 volume master peice. Its a hundred years old so if you want a modern acclaimed book I'd recommend Rory Muir's 'Wellington'. Both absolutely brilliant
