@aida_oriental_dance: Baladi | Shaabi — it’s one of those styles where I feel an immediate connection with people. Whenever I perform it, I don’t feel like I’m dancing for the audience. I feel like I’m dancing with them. There is something about this music that allows me to fully enjoy myself, relax, let go, play, interact, and simply appreciate the moment. I love the energy. The freedom. The groove. That connection with the audience. I love how this music gives me the freedom to be playful and powerful, feminine and energetic, soft and strong — sometimes all within the same song. For me, it’s less about creating a perfect image and more about being completely present in the music and sharing that feeling with the people around you. And this is one of the reasons I chose Baladi Shaabi for my next Online Masterclass. On August 30, we’ll work with these qualities through my “Beshwesh Alaya” choreography — exploring the movement, musicality, character and performance details of the style.
