The thing is that I totally get the people who are Team Rory, but at the same time, I don’t and no, it’s not about the looks. With Rory, Annie couldn’t figure out what being IN LOVE felt like, but with Ellis, she FELT it without trying to figure it out. Plus, it’s a parallel between her mother’s story and hers: Rory is the same safe and secure option as Steven, and Ellis is what she needs, what she is looking for, and what she wants — the same way Joe was for her mother. Like, c'mon, it’s obvious who is endgame.
Her being IN LOVE with Ellis was something I actually could see and feel deep inside of me, but with Rory, I could only feel the love she had FOR him and generally her love for the concept of love itself. She was looking for that feeling of love while she was with Rory, but only found and felt it when she was with Ellis.
(I feel like it's necessary for me to add that I DO NOT despise Rory as a person, but I definitely despise him FOR Annie because they are very different. That is very clear in the scene where Annie says that she might actually stay in Sterling Point and he goes, "And do what?" Their views of life and living are very different.) And for the people saying that Ellis was barely talking and was just standing there looking, I get where you are coming from, but that is how it SHOULD BE. Love is gentle; love is kind. He loved gently, patiently — not rushing or forcing anything and I'm pretty sure that we will get to know him way better in season 2 (PRAYING WE GET ONE!).
