How to upgrade it even further: Make a box of vanilla pudding mix according to the box instructions but before it sets, poke a bunch of holes in your cooled cake with a chopstick, pour the pudding over, let it seep through the holes, then refrigerate for at least an hour before frosting with chocolate frosting or ganache. Now you have a Boston cream pie.
