Well in my opinion based on how you described history which is exactly what it is, the children of the enslaved adapted because it became the norm to accept the so-called faith or die. The ancestors (their parents and grandparents) had to first accept it in order to live. They then taught it to their children and children's children over and over again across generations and now it's become the norm of the day. Remember this took place for over 400 years. And you know that 400 years is so long a period that you're made to believe or think that what everyone has accepted as normal is how it should be. Imagine being enslaved for 400 years knowing you can't and won't be allowed to live unless you accept what you're forced to accept in order to live. Now think through this thoroughly. Your best warriors face someone with a gun and before you know it, 10 of your best warriors are killed in 1 go. What would become of you? You would definitely surrender and live in fear for your life. So that in my opinion is how those that survived survived and they had no option than to teach it to their children generations down the line for 400 solid years that what those savage mindless idiots say should be what they accept as true and live by if they actually want to survive. And you know how I also think it spread across the globe? When those in mindless idiots in power and authority saw how they were able to control their slaves with religion and it worked perfectly in keeping them in order and obedience, they decided to use the same script throughout their countries to also control their people and that's why it is what it is today. Just think about it, why do you think Islam doesn't forgive those against them or those that switch religion till date? We also know that Europe burnt many of its people on poles for refusing to accept the faith calling them witches and wizards. An they did same across North and South Americas
