@erinandpaulfly: Getting here was a lot more complicated than we expected. 🇺🇸🇨🇦✈️ The Northwest Angle is a tiny piece of Minnesota cut off from the rest of the state by Canada and Lake of the Woods. To reach it from the U.S. without crossing an international border, you have to come by boat… or airplane. The problem? The grass runway we wanted to land on is private, doesn’t appear on any charts, and finding out how to get permission wasn’t exactly straightforward. Once we had permission, we flew nearly 30 miles over open water to the 2,800-foot grass strip — staying high to give ourselves more glide range and being VERY careful not to accidentally cross into Canadian airspace. 😂 We were able to get flight following with Duluth Approach for part of the crossing, but eventually lost radio communication over the water. We were very glad we’d brought flotation equipment and our Garmin inReach along for the flight. But once we landed… it was so worth it. We stayed at a family-run lodge right on the water, explored one of the most unique, beautiful little corners of the United States, and somehow ended up in the Walleye Capital of the World. 🎣 Definitely one of those places that reminds us why we built an airplane to do this. @Prothero’s Post Resort
