Bro I got signed on the first week I took acting seriously which was this January, and 7 months later just stared in my first professional film starring Paula Patton so honestly you don’t really need experience you just need to sign w a local agency first not the big names

As someone who has been trying to get into the industry for eight years, try to find community there’s a lot of people that want to work together and get their acting reel too so you do not need to wait to be in a project to have an acting rail find people who want to work with you and I know that it can be expensive but there’s always a friend discount haha

How do you know when you’re ready to reach out? I’m currently building up material and training I feel like I need to learn more and be more believable in my acting (more training)

Overrated bro - getting picked up by an agent doesn’t give you a career. I’ve been in it for 20yrs and not one of my reps ever really opened doors for me - I opened my own doors. Most of the major work I got was my own connections etc. I got one commercial from my last rep and other than that every other gig from a rep was a couple hundred bucks - where my own connections got me thousands. Just do the work and find the right people brother. Seriously - the agents will come once they want you. The biz model have shifted. It’s not like how it used to be to be

ngl you dont need experience just practice your self tapes. you can get into many botique agency's with just self tape submissions and training resume. most of them dont directly ask for a reel unless they want exprienced actors and you dont want to be in that type of agency if you're new because youre competing with titans. do some good classes especially improv and practice self tapes and ask to submit to smaller agency's and youre in

I’m in the same position but I think it’s important to enjoy the process aswell even and especially the smaller projects. Because it it building up your experience as a whole, and in this industry acting it’s what you should LOVE to do not just the end result 😝

i was so so lucky with the student films i did because they need to be followed through with! apply for student films even if they’re not paid, we gotta make those sacrifices in this industry unfortunately!

I’ve been just starting as well and it’s worked for me to start just being on set as an extra. I know it may seem small but I have faith. now I’ve been ON set and I want to slowly get actual roles and so on 😭 keep going!

Highly recommended making something for yourself. Even the roles you book may not represent entirely what you feel you can. Your fellow local filmmakers will see what you can do, want to work with you, and boom. You have a reel.

It’s tough, man! Especially starting out. The good thing about doing it now versus back in the dark ages when I was starting out is that the technology is soooooo much better and there’s so many more avenues to pursue. If you need a good demo reel editor once you’ve got some legit footage ready… holler anytime. 👍 BEST OF LUCK, BRO!

Honestly? Film a few monologues. Use your BEST self taped auditions, and look up agencies (depending on where you live) that take newer actors. But, if you don’t have even 1 professional credit, I would work on that first. It’s hard man, it is. I’m looking for an agency at the moment myself.
