I remember 10 years ago, I was DESPERATE for a boyfriend. Then I went into therapy, and after improving my self esteem I realized I wanted to stay single. And that showed me that I previously only wanted a boyfriend cuz I was unable to validate myself and I needed someone else to do it for me. It was such a wild realization cuz I thought I was just a super romantic. No, I was insecure.

It was a hard pill to swallow to realize I was putting them on a pedestal and essentially dehumanizing them by idolizing them. I was so focused on them because it was easier to focus on someone else instead of myself. 😭 but I healed, I'm good now.

I am a late diagnosis autistic person and being infatuated with someone and fall in love with them is part of my spectrum I cured it by putting a timeline on it and it sounds weird but if I say this is only going to last for a month three months or 6 months and then it's done I walk away I will have wonderful memories but I do not long for it anymore.
