The Terra Cotta Army is one of the most spectacular archaeological discoveries in history, found in 1974 by local farmers digging a well near Xi'an, China. This massive underground collection consists of approximately 8,000 life-sized clay soldiers, 130 chariots, 520 horses, and 150 cavalry horses, all buried with China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, in 210-209 BCE. The emperor believed these terracotta warriors would protect him in the afterlife and serve as his eternal army. Each figure was individually crafted with unique facial features, expressions, and details, showcasing the incredible artistry and craftsmanship of ancient Chinese sculptors. The army was arranged in battle formation across three main pits, with the largest pit containing over 6,000 figures.
