So all of our friends bailed on our gender reveal… and for a moment, it felt like the entire trip was ruined before it even began. We had imagined this huge moment surrounded by the people closest to us. We pictured everyone celebrating together, taking pictures, and being there when we found out whether our first baby was a boy or a girl. But one by one, everyone backed out—and when the day finally arrived, it was just the two of us. It honestly hurt. This was one of the biggest moments of our lives, and the people we thought would be standing beside us simply weren’t there. We could have spent the entire trip focusing on who was missing, but we decided we weren’t going to let anyone take this memory away from us—or from our baby. So we did the gender reveal on our own in the Faroe Islands. And the moment we found out we were having a son, everything else seemed to disappear. 💙 After that, we stopped thinking about the trip we were supposed to have and started enjoying the one we actually had. We explored tiny villages, stood beneath waterfalls, drove through mountains, and took in some of the most beautiful views we’ve ever seen. What started as a trip filled with disappointment somehow became one of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives. Looking back, I’m almost grateful it happened the way it did. It wasn’t the huge gender reveal we planned, but it reminded us that even when everyone else disappears, we still have each other—and now, we have our little boy to look forward to.
