bruh i’m from barcelona, i LOVE el raval and always use headphones, bcn is not dangerous, yes, you need to be aware of your surroundings, but like in every other place

just came back from barcelona and stayed in el raval and there was nothing wrong with it? it just has a diverse ethnic community there and i felt safer there than other areas of barcelona

El Raval has some of the best spots… and as someone mentioned above can feel safer than gótico or el born because Raval is way more locals living there and less targeted tourist attacks.. just some examples of amazing spots in Raval..also if you want to go to La Rosalia’s fave spots (El pollo & Fast Eddies both great) Just to name a few; Nun cafe, Sésamo, la central, Sip coffee roasters, Caravelle, Casa Almirall, Bar la Ravala (best tortilla) Bar del torro, Resolis…I could go on and on. You’re missing out Pippa! ✨

Actually it is forbbiden to ride a bike without a helmet, you can get a fine! As for not going to el Raval, yeah, it may have nice spots but what it has become nowadays is scary… It’s not safe!

Raval has soooo many good little shops though. I go during the day and avoid certain streets but the shopping there is my fave

Raval can be fine to visit during the day but from someone who lived there for almost 4 years, definitely not safe, especially at night: The screams in the night from people being robbed were constant; police chasing picpockets speeding through tiny streets and sidewalks with no thought about pedestrian safety were a daily occurrence. Whatever people say, it is not safe. Sure, it has it’s charm but the consistency of criminals, drug addicts, etc is insane and people have false sense of safety walking around there, especially tourists for one day. And btw, biking with your headphones on is illegal and the police can fine you, even if you have no music playing. ;)

I’m with you on the bikes and lack of helmets. And the roads like Balmes that don’t have bike lanes have buses and it terrifies me! I need to work up the courage though.

Omg I’m also Scottish and moving to bcn from Madrid in a month!!! Can u really not walk around with earphones in etc??? I love doing that usually I’m sad now🤣🤣🤣
