Patrick drugged her, cut her (she’s a nurse so she would have known how to cut herself to commit suicide yet the cuts weren’t fatal), then locked her in the bedroom. He unalived the kids then left to go “run the errands.” She comes to, realizes what happened, she desperately tries to get to the kids (the bloody handprint on the door knob) and when she can’t open the door she tries the next best thing, jumping from the window. That’s why he was standing over her, because he was in shock that she survived. He knew he left her in the bedroom and he thought she would die of an overdose or bleed out.
