Ore's price is falling, yet the demand for steel is climbing all the time. Still we export our last kg and then have to import at more than triple the money we initially made. Bring back the refineries (will create jobs, revenue, but even more, we will be selfsufficient).

Rail capacity is also a problem, remember Iron Ore is a volume game hence it can never be evacuated by road hauling. The big 4 of hematite Fe in the NC have the port allocation of 60 million MT in the Saldanah bay however the last financial year they evacuated 8 million MT less.

My biggest concern with regards to Kumba, especially in Kathu is all the people coming from Limpopo & Mpumalanga to do contractual work, while the local people are now sitting without jobs. Is it not the constitutional right that local people must be employed? 🤔🤔

Kumba has been selling it's assets for a year or two now and it's busy reworking it's waste dump to extend mine life. All of this its a symbol of less land to continue mining productively. To me it will not surprise me if Kumba in the next years is sold to the Chinese.
