Sex is still a biological classification, where 99% of individuals fall into the categories of male or female. Intersex conditions are very real and not “unnatural” but they are also not the norm. They simply fall into another category. Any other medical interventions or alterations may change the intersex person’s phenotype to allow them to be more easily incorporated into one of the two MAIN gender classifications, but they are still not biologically male or female even if some medical forms or whatever may show as such

It’s not just based off genitals this is really wrong?? There are people who are also being born as intersex and because of that DNA and especially chromosomes are how poeple are classified as woman and male- it’s not a bad thing cause at the end things like how your heart beats, your lung capacity or your bones should improve are based on these and the categorization helps you to live better by knowing how to take care of yourself

love this topic! the industrial and agricultural evolutions have shaped the western gender binary undeniably, and in turn, capitalism. I truly believe far right politicians are attacking trans people because without the gender binary, capitalism breaks down- would love to hear your thoughts on this !

Sex in itself is material reality but the way we divide it is a social construct. For now we understand it as a bimodal distribution so we follow 2 main categories where people vary within the categories. It is socially constructed in a way that we can understand but the concept of sex itself is material reality- it is more how we decided on 2 categories and what is a "male trait" versus a "female trait".
