I’ve not spent 500 on Douglas, but I’ve definitely dropped that on other plush but only ever on a payment plan/ pay in 4 I can’t afford that outright and the 2 plush I did that on were spaced way apart and ones I waited forever on. I try to budget my money and when I have the funds now to get plushies I try to find good deals so I can get multiple or a cheaper price on one I’ve waited a while for. I’ve definitely gotten more into Douglas recently and I think out of my collection I have I’ve only bought 4 of mine off like the store sites or amazon, the rest have been secondhand like eBay, mercari or something like that trying to stretch the money. (Granted I don’t have a huge collection at all, my Douglas collection is currently all of 8 plushies 😅 I just started it this year

Same I have a pretty impressive My Little Pony collection, but I’ve only spent a couple dollars here and there for several years. the most I ever spent at once was $85 and that was for a dream figure of mine.

It’s why I buy most my plushies second hand and don’t really get into rare plushies! Plus I prefer to carry them around and I can’t do that with rare plushies because if something happens, I can’t afford to get a new one! Sadly can’t keep a huge collection since I live in one room but I do have a small collection of mainly Douglas and dogs

I agree so heavily, with the money I could've spent on the fao schwarz fox or coyote, I got over 300 stuffed animals with! (and a lot more than that!!!) and sometimes you get super lucky and find a grail at the thrift store, I have done that a few times. I actually found the fao schwarz fox I wanted so badly while thrifting too

This is the way I do it haha, I sometimes splurge on the odd grail here and there during special occasions, but otherwise I prioritize getting multiple plush for cheaper rather than spending all of that money on just one. I do have grails that are going for a lot right now, but I'm willing to sacrifice opportunities to get them if it means I can get multiple other plush instead.
