I got to wondering just now reading these as to why I almost always was a dungeon master when we would play DND (with my old friends). I guess I didn't feel like I could repay them for the friendship and the camaraderie. like I'm sure I was good enough, but I never felt good enough. so I wanted to give something back. I always felt like I was doing something good, and I loved doing it. and I don't understand gatekeeping. I always saw this thing that I loved and wanted people to try and see if they loved it too. sorry. I'm silly

the other day, while I was shopping there was a mom with a little kid before me in line to pay. The little kid was asking for some football cards but the mom told him she didn't have the money for them. So when it was my turn to pay I also asked for some football cards, they were 1€, and ran after the mom and kid to give it to them. The mom asked me if this was some kind of hidden camera or something and looked like she was about to cry from happiness. And maybe that's what being human is all about

My dad likes to assume the worst in everyone around him because that’s how he was raised. when I was little at an arcade/skate rink combo and I put a quarter into this foosball table where you got to keep the ball, and my ball got stuck where nothing could hit it so I just went and sat on the bench, and a few min later this boy came over and gave me the ball. something so small but this memory sticks out in my mind so much

I'm so grateful for TikTok, for bringing me so much joy in living. I learned the Margaret Meade quote here a few years ago, and I, too, think of it all the time. Especially when I see so much cruelty being encouraged on social media and in politics. And I'm glad to be OLD, and near the end.

the same parts of our brain that come primed for deceit, cruelty, and apathy are also the same parts that come primed for empathy, kindness, helpfulness, and an innate sense to look out for our own. i don’t believe humans are inherently bad. they can just choose to do bad things.
