An insane car crash shut down a major Central Los Angeles intersection after a black BMW slammed into a light pole and electrical equipment, leaving the vehicle and one person trapped inside. The crash occurred around 1:09 a.m. near North Beaudry Avenue and West Sunset Boulevard, just west of the 101 and 110 freeway interchange. According to information from the scene, the collision involved at least two vehicles and may have involved a third vehicle that reportedly left the area before authorities arrived. LAPD launched an investigation and a police helicopter was observed searching the surrounding area. LAFD Central Bureau crews responded with 11 units, including engines, ladder companies, ambulances, and command staff. Firefighters worked to extricate the driver of the BMW by removing a door from the heavily damaged vehicle. The male occupant was reportedly conscious and breathing when rescued and was transported to a local hospital. The BMW sustained catastrophic damage, with multiple tires torn from the vehicle and debris scattered across the intersection. The impact also damaged a light pole and electrical equipment, reportedly knocking out power to the intersection. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
