@abcworldnews: Extreme drought in Puerto Rico is now forcing its government to ration water in communities across the U.S. territory. Puerto Rico's capitol and other municipalities have implemented 48-hour water restrictions for hundreds of thousands of residents. Andrew Dymburt reports.

Democrat controlled Puerto Rico is surrounded by the ocean. So why don't they build a couple of Desalination plants, It's because Democrats destroy what they control.

For the ignorant people attacking Puerto Rico. Are they without fault? No. Is the USA without fault? No. You might want to learn Puerto Rican history before throwing around insults. First, Puerto Rico is part of the United States. Puerto Ricans have been U.S. citizens since 1917, yet the people living on the island cannot vote for the president and have no voting member of Congress. So pretending Puerto Ricans are some completely separate foreign country is already historically and politically ignorant. And yes, Puerto Rico has corruption. Nobody is denying that. Puerto Rican politicians and officials have been prosecuted for bribery, kickbacks, fraud and misuse of government funds. In fact, a Puerto Rico Treasury employee just pleaded guilty in July 2026 to a bribery scheme that caused approximately $5 million in lost tax revenue. (Department of Justice) But here’s the part conveniently left out: Corruption isn’t a Puerto Rican invention. The U.S. Department of Justice has an entire Public Integrity Section dedicated to investigating and prosecuting corruption by federal officials. Federal officials have been convicted of bribery, procurement fraud, theft, kickbacks and other corruption—including a recent case involving a federal contracting official who accepted more than $100,000 in bribes. (Department of Justice) And in 2025, a USAID contracting officer pleaded guilty to participating in a decade-long bribery scheme involving more than $550 million in U.S. government contracts. (Department of Justice) So if your argument is “Puerto Rico has corruption, therefore Puerto Rico can’t manage itself,” then by that logic the United States shouldn’t be allowed to manage itself either. And while we’re discussing America’s relationship with Puerto Rico, let’s remember the history: 🇵🇷 Puerto Rican women: For decades, sterilization was extraordinarily widespread, and Puerto Rican women were subjected to reproductive coercion and used in the testing of contraceptives. The history of sterilization and contraceptive experimentation on Puerto Rican women is well documented.

My heart💔. The U.S. must urgently assist Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is part of the U.S., yet the government prioritizes other countries over our own. We need to send containers, bottles, cash, non-perishable food, and more to Puerto Rico immediately.❤️🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷❤️
