You absolutely cannot call CPS based on vibes. I'm a teacher too, and calling CPS is a super serious thing that happens when you see actual evidence of abuse. A CPS investigation can be a really hard thing for a family to go through - you don't know what they are dealing with and you definitely don't know that they are abusive based on the evidence you have. It is sketchy that your admin wanted to call CPS themselves instead of having you call - I'm pretty sure the person with evidence is the one that is legally required to report.

I will admit that having a child at 54 is crazy but to say it’s a “no no to have a child over 35” is just as crazy. I had my daughter at 35, healthy pregnancy and super healthy baby and now one year old.

Maybe having kids in your 50s isn’t great but you can have kids in your 40s. My aunt was 40/41 when she had my cousin and he’s fine. I had my first at 30 and second at 33. My mom adopted me at 37.

Yall omg she’s not attacking anyone for having kids at an older age. I know that many of you are fine but she is correct. Past 35 pregnancies are considered geriatric and both baby and mom have considerably more health risks. I do think that it is a little selfish to have a baby at 50 because of exactly what she said happened. That baby had a birth defect/medical condition. My mom had me at 33 which is older than all of my friends parents and while I’m fine, she didn’t have the energy to run after me as I got older bcs she was older too. I love her but I’m def not waiting till my 30’s or older

On the “parents over 35” comment: yes, I had my own children at 36 and 40. No, it wasn’t by choice. She is correct that there is more of a risk of complications with older moms. But, that still is pretty inflammatory to say that it was “selfish”, and didn’t need to be included your story. And… “creepy smart”…?

There is no significant risk for pregnancy at 35. Those risks accumulate after about 45, but can be mitigated with screening. The people criticizing you for that remark are correct. No physician will say a baby at 35 is high risk. Over 45? Yes, maybe.

To me this kind of sounds like my family, we are all on the spectrum and when I was really young my daycare workers called cps on my mom simply because she didn’t really know how to socialize very well, I get why you may have done this but I think it’s better to take other things into proportion

Unpopular opinion: I think it’s a bit selfish to wait until your 40 or over to have your first kid. There is a greater risk of genetic disorders. And I mean to deliberately plan it. Unplanned pregnancy is totally different. Also, if you’re over 50, they will have to spend their 20s and 30s worrying about you or looking after you as a senior.

🙄my mom was under 35 when she had me fyi an I was born with a disability so age has nothing to do with it .i think it selfish to have a child in your 50s because you won’t live long enough to see them though life events
