For all of those who don't understand what's happened in the Multiverse Saga, so basically we first need to clarify some terms, Universes are the actual Physical space, matter, laws of Physics, and characters existing within a specific setting. Timelines are a specific chronological path of history from start to finish. Multiverse is the grans container of all existing universes, timelines and dimensions. A universe can have many branches of timelines on it. Think of Universes as highways, and Timelines as the different lanes on that highway. Now that we got those out of the way, let me explain the role of He Who Remains. So this Kang variant was the one who stopped the First Multiversal War created by his many Evil Variants. He defeated them with the help of Alioth. He created what we call as the "Sacred Timeline". The Sacred Timeline is the bundle and collection of many universes all in one place. He Who Remains' goal in creating the Sacred Timeline is to prevent again the rise of evil Kang Variants. That is why he bundled all the universes and chose one timeline for all of them, the one timeline that he deems not to produce an evil Kang. He created then the TVA to prune (erase) all the branching timelines from each universe. So basically everything that happened in each universe was pre-determined by He Who Remains. Before Sylvie killed HWR, the "Sacred Timeline" that we see (the bundle or loom) is basically the multiverse, it contained every universe with 1 timeline each. After HWR's death, the timelines started branching, why? It is because Branching is a Natural State of the multiverse. Multiple realities will sprout from multiple choices and decision of every living being. Without HWR, there is no authority giving orders to the TVA to prune branched realities. Because of this, basically, Loki needed to step-in as the one holding the multiverse (end of loki s2). He gives life to infinite amounts of realities being born from free-will using his magic, sacrificing his own. That is why incursions are bound to happen, because there are infinite numbers of branches appearing, the collision of universes were inevitable. Basically that's it!!

You don’t create a timeline by going back to the past. A branch only occurs if there is made a permanent change. In endgame they go back, get stones, and return the stones which undoes any branched timelines

Actually there is a theory that says that Loki is already dead at Yggdrasil because when he was alive he held the branches so there was no incursions, but Doom killing him caused the beginning of incursions so it would explain why there are incursions now

3 is wrong tho, litteraly after kidnapping Loki from timeline TVA reseted the branch.. Loki is the only thing that survived out of that branch
