The first was the natural light of the morning, while the second was a flash of state-manufactured heat that turned the city of Hiroshima into a death furnace. One child was found with his skin peeling and dragging behind him like a heap of rags. Another was reduced to nothing but scraps of a school uniform scorched into the asphalt. This was not a tragedy of nature but a deliberate act of imperialist violence. The same violence that drives the current escalation of NATO and AUKUS. We are now closer to nuclear conflict than at any point in history because the capitalist state continues to prioritise hegemony over human survival.
