10/10 go to Google Maps and look at the viewing field, find the large dirt patch then go before the Sun sets to find it easier so that your not as wet from the dewy grass

I hope you get clear skies. we just there this weekend. Sunday night was the only good night for 3 hours or so. we just gazed from our campsite a few miles away. cherry springs had a building where you register for a spot. no dogs allowed, only red lights ate allowed, and there was a food truck there called cosmic bites, or something. if it isn't cloudy you will see the milky way!

Was there with my daughter a couple years ago and was really floored by how much is the Milky Way you can see with the naked eye we saw satellites going in all different directions. We went on a new moon for the best views

Go on the new moon, this time of year bring some extra clothes(the top of the hill cools off) bring a red light, take some time and go up in the daytime just so you know the lay out and were the restrooms are.

Use a red film over any flashlights to cut down light pollution so you can enjoy walking around and won't interfere with anyone else star gazing

Make sure you take a tripod for your phone or camera and use the longest exposure you can. You’ll get amazing views if the sky is clear.

"WORD OF ADVICE" :
bring all your expensive electronics, jewelry, cash, etc. Leave car doors unlocked incase a deranged gazer snaps out when a shooting star passes on by. Great place highly recommended.
