@divican5: WHY 36 WEEKS IS ALREADY 9 MONTHS PREGNANT: PREGNANCY MONTHS ARE NOT CALCULATED THE WAY YOU THINK! Many mamas get confused and it’s very understandable. We are used to hearing that 4 weeks makes 1 month, so naturally you might think pregnancy should follow that same pattern. But pregnancy does not work like that. Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period and it lasts about 40 weeks, not exactly 9 calendar months. Now here is where the confusion comes in: If you divide 40 weeks by 4, it gives you 10 months… but we all say pregnancy is 9 months. Why? Because real months are not exactly 4 weeks. Some months have 30 days, some 31, and February is even shorter. So pregnancy months are not equal like that. This is why: 36 weeks is already considered 9 months pregnant, even though 36 ÷ 4 = 9. It doesn’t mean something is wrong, it’s just how pregnancy is calculated. That’s also why doctors focus more on weeks, not months, because weeks give a more accurate picture of your baby’s growth and development. So mama, don’t stress yourself too much trying to match weeks perfectly into months. What matters most is how your baby is growing, not just the number of months.
