I had a BOH guy leave for an asthma attack. Guilt tripped a-hole guests by saying, so sorry we had a major medical emergency in the kitchen, he had to be rushed to the hospital & that's why ticket times were running slower than usual. It totally worked.

we had a large party for upstairs and it was all old people so they needed to use our tiny elevator and i was sending groups of them up and someone asked “how many of us can fit” and i looked at the sticker on the elevator and said “750 lbs” … they were appalled i would say that lmao like sorryyy i didn’t know what else to say in the moment

When I was a server I became George “Never told a lie” Washington; our restaurant was shutting down so people had many questions, my coworkers were all media trained, I didn’t care so I told the whole truth “yeah we’re closing” “yes, new owners” “yes we’ve all been fired” “I do agree it’s stupid”

a restaurant i worked at in FL that was on the water did a monthly bug bombing as a preventative measure and one night it was bug bomb night when I was working the bar and starting to clear everything from behind the bar to get stuff ready to cover… one of the bartenders I was working with when a guest asked what was going on said “oh, it’s bug bomb night” 😂

I hate when someone orders the NY Steak, we only have ONE steak option on the menu because we are NOT a steakhouse…so when people order it I always want to tell them it’s a 50/50 gamble of it being brought out at the right temp that they asked and don’t let it be a busy night because then the chances are LOWER
