@timtalksmoneysg: The 3-account system I'd use to rebuild my money from scratch. 👇 If I lost everything tomorrow so no stocks, no ETFs, no accounts. I wouldn't rebuild it by picking better investments. I'd rebuild it with a system. Successful investing isn't really about picking the "right" stocks or ETFs. It's more about building the right structure around your money. Account 1: Spending. Where your salary lands. Fixed costs, groceries, discretionary spending, day-to-day life. This is the account you actually look at day to day. Everything else should run in the background without you having to think about or dedicate mental bandwidth to it. Account 2: Emergency fund. 6 to 12 months of essential living expenses. Rent, groceries, utilities. The bare minimum to survive. Keep it somewhere liquid, like Singapore Savings Bonds or a money market fund (MMF). Account 3: Investing. This is where the actual wealth-building happens. The moment your salary lands, a fixed amount transfers here automatically, before it has a chance to get spent on anything else. From there it goes straight into the market through a recurring investment plan (into a low-cost ETF) on the same day each month. Here's why the order matters. Most people invest with whatever's left at the end of the month and that usually ends up being nothing. Pay yourself first instead. Invest/save before you spend, then live off what remains.
