LESSON 7 A PORTRAIT OF LOVE Before we talk about what love feels like, let’s ask a deeper question: What does real love actually look like? We often say, I love God,I love my family,I love my partner,I love my friends. But 1 Corinthians 13 challenges us to prove that love through our character and actions. Because love is not only something we say. Love is something we LIVE. Read: 1 Corinthians 13 Paul gives us a beautiful picture of love. And interestingly, he doesn't describe love by saying love feels good. Instead, he tells us what love does.❤️ Love is patient. Love is kind. Love doesn't envy. Love doesn't boast. Love isn't proud. love isn't rude. Love doesn't insist on its own way. Love isn't easily angered. Love doesn't keep a record of wrongs. Love rejoices in truth. Love protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres. Now here's the part that can really make us examine ourselves 1 Corinthians 13 is like a mirror. It's easy to read it and think Yes, that's how people should treat me. But the real question is: Am I loving people this way? When someone hurts you, are you patient? When someone succeeds where you wanted to succeed, can you genuinely celebrate them? When someone apologizes, can you forgive without constantly reminding them of their past? When you're angry, can you still choose kindness? When you have the opportunity to get your own way, can you sometimes put another person's needs before yours? That's where the real test of love begins. Love and the fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22–23 describes love as the first fruit of the Spirit. That means Christian love isn't something we manufacture by ourselves. As we grow closer to God, His character should increasingly become visible in our lives. So we shouldn't only pray Lord, give me more gifts. We should also pray: Lord, teach me how to love. Because what is the point of having great spiritual gifts if our character is hurting the very people we're supposed to bless? And here's a powerful question: Can someone be gifted by God but still struggle to love people properly? Paul's answer is essentially yes. You can have knowledge. You can have faith. You can be talented. You can preach. You can sing. You can serve. You can even be greatly used by God... but without love, something important is missing. That's why Paul says: The greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 LET'S DISCUSS I want everyone to be honest,not just give the church answer. 😂❤️ 1.
