@ryan.wilson589: 🏠 WHEN THE COUNCIL COMES KNOCKING… DO YOU KNOW YOUR RIGHTS? A council-tax enforcement agent turned up at someone’s home expecting an easy conversation — and instead got absolutely schooled. And this raises a much bigger question: How many people actually understand the legal process behind council-tax enforcement? People are often frightened when someone arrives at their door demanding money. But enforcement is not simply a case of somebody turning up and saying, “You owe the council money, so hand it over.” There is a legal process. A council can apply to a magistrates’ court for a liability order for unpaid council tax. Once the appropriate legal process has been followed, the council has several enforcement options, including the use of enforcement agents. (GOV.UK) And enforcement agents themselves are subject to rules governing things such as notice, entry, taking control of goods, fees and dealing with vulnerable people. (GOV.UK) So the message isn’t: “Ignore the council.” The message is: KNOW THE LAW. KNOW THE PROCESS. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. Because when somebody is standing on your doorstep demanding payment, you need to know exactly who they are, what authority they have, what they are enforcing, what legal order exists, how much is allegedly owed, and what your options are. And there is another serious conversation we need to have. Why are so many ordinary households struggling to keep up with council tax? Why are people increasingly finding themselves in a situation where paying the council means falling behind on food, energy, rent, mortgages or other essential bills? At what point does a system designed to fund local services become a source of financial hardship for the very people those services are supposed to support? That doesn’t mean the law has suddenly disappeared. It means we should be asking serious questions about whether the system is sustainable, proportionate and fair. There is already evidence of enormous pressure on households and rising council-tax arrears, while the future of local taxation itself is being debated. So is the system about to “crash and crumble”? Nobody can honestly say that yet. But one thing is certain: 🔥 People are asking more questions. 🔥 People are demanding to understand the legal process. 🔥 People are challenging enforcement practices. 🔥 And people are no longer automatically accepting everything they are told at the doorstep. Knowledge is power. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t rely on Facebook claims either. Read the legislation. Check the paperwork. Ask the right questions. Challenge anything that appears wrong through the proper legal channels. Because when it comes to council tax and enforcement: KNOWLEDGE BEATS FEAR. ⚖️ #CouncilTax #KnowYourRights #Enforcement #DebtEnforcement #LegalRights

Its contract law. Once you understand contract laws they cant touch you. If you havent signed anything and a third party has bought your debt its cleared. Then take the person or director personally responsible in his personal capacity for any further actions.

Don’t follow this nonsense. They just take the debt directly from your salary and there’s nothing you can do about it unfortunately.

HMRC demanded from me £8,500 back saying that they have information that I have a partner, but registered as a single person. I've sent them evidence that I pay for everything myself and even so, it's not their business. If I would know that I don't have to prove them anything, because it's them who demanded on presumptions, not me. When I asked the name of that person, they have disappeared. I chased HMRC and asked do they still want their money back. They said that this debt collectors company doesn't work for them any longer. Lol
