An SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) engine is a diesel or gas power unit equipped with an active emissions-control system. It injects a liquid reductant—Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) or AdBlue—into the exhaust stream to convert toxic nitrogen oxides (\(\text{NO}_{x}\)) into harmless nitrogen and water vapor.
