Yeah they’re very cliquey! Noticed that about the Aussies I met in Dubai 🇦🇪 and I know it’s like that in Sydney 🇦🇺

I heard it’s everywhere like that in Australia 😭 everyone just sticks with their high school friends and that’s it. How can anyone be that narrow minded ?! They are missing out big time

It’s because Australia doesn’t have a college experience like US or UK. Everyone goes to university in their home town, so their group from high school never needs to split up. So yeah it’s hard to break into that very strong and old clique

As someone who grew up in Australia this is sadly true. Toxic culture here. People are ‘friendly’ but ultimately dont make new friends. Stick to their own 😭

Australians will move to a different country and will somehow end up with a friend group that is entirely Australians

Born in Australia, had some Primary School friends, did Homeschooling throughout High School and have not had a close girl friend since (2012) 💔 I was so isolated and I tried for so long to make friends at different workplaces, yet all I got was left on read/not invited to birthdays and repeatedly failed coffee dates get togethers even though they were keen.

Being Brazilian and living in Australia, this will always seem a little strange to me haha. In Brazil, you meet someone one day and invite them to a barbecue the next ahahah

Try moving to a rural or regional area in Australia.... They are so kind, but all have little groups of friends and its so hard to make new friends.

As an Australian, I’ve never found this to be true. Moved cities so no longer had my high school friends, and have always found people to be welcoming. However, since I’ve never lived overseas I suppose I have nothing to compare it to.
