President Donald Trump touched down in Ireland early this morning as part of a short non-state visit, which saw the US President meet the Irish president Catherine Connolly and the Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Micheál Martin,  During the press conference with Martin Trump called for a United Ireland saying that it would be a “great thing”. Irish authorities have been preparing for the visit for months with a massive cost estimated to be around €31 million euro, it is what is being called one of the biggest security operations in the history of the state with some 10,000 12-hour shifts will be worked by Gardaí (The Irish Police force) Commissioner Kelly said the cost of the security operation for the Trump visit will be in line with previous visits by US Presidents, with Joe Biden’s Irish trip in 2023 costing the State more than €31million.
