When a person goes to a sports event, they know the hazards and they should be responsible for their children as well as themselves. If you get hit by a baseball, baseball bat, or someone participating in the event while they are trying to be what they are expected to do, you cannot hold the player responsible. I hope he appealed it.

this is on the parents of the child not the runner and a 6yo knows damn well what they are supposed and not supposed to do they just ignore it and do what they want.. thats why you gotta watch your kids

The mother is completely at fault. I do not believe the athlete should have had to pay anything. She should have been watching her child first and foremost. And a 6 year old definitely understands not to be on the track while a race in on. My 5 year old understands that as we did track this summer.

The mother should've kept close attention to her son. If you go to a baseball game and the ball hits a child on the head, it's not the baseball player's fault, so it shouldn't be the track runner's fault for running over. The child is the mother's fault for not controlling her child. No, he should not have to pay for that child.

The mother shouldn't have left the child that close to the track. Marcus should have stopped the race and checked on the boy. He should have to pay the money. The mother should be held accountable as well.
