Pour tous ceux que ça inquiète, ça n'a rien d'exceptionnel. Le Sakurajima est le volcan le plus actif du Japon et un des plus actifs au monde. Rien qu'en 2025 il totalisait plus de 300 éruptions, soit presque une par jour. A l'inverse, cette année il n'a pratiquement pas eu d'éruption entre janvier et avril, il est donc relativement calme.

Sakurajima erupts on a daily basis. Communities living on Sakurajima are used to the hundreds of eruptions that occur every year. There will be warning signs from a few months to at least a few days before large eruptions happen. They do not occur without warning.
