This is one of the hardest videos I’ve ever shared. I’m posting this to raise awareness about dementia because I want people to understand what this disease can look like. This is one of the episodes my mom experiences. Watching someone you love scream in distress and bite a blanket because they don’t know how to express what’s happening inside is absolutely heartbreaking. My mom had diabetes, and years ago she also experienced memory loss and confusion while taking a statin that was later found to be prescribed at twice the intended dose. Those events changed our lives forever and made me realize how important it is to ask questions, advocate for your loved ones, and take brain health seriously. We’ve worked closely with her doctors and continue trying to find the right medication balance to help reduce these episodes. Some days are better than others, but dementia is unpredictable. I’m sharing this because I hope people will see how devastating dementia can be and be inspired to take care of their health, manage risk factors, ask questions about their medications, and do everything they can to age as healthy as possible. This disease has become my biggest motivation. Age Healthier.
