@mayinmidlife: If you’re serving right now, start an I Love Me Binder. And if you already have one? KEEP IT. Orders. Awards. Evaluations. Training certificates. Qualifications. Medical paperwork. Deployment documents. LESs. DD-214s. Anything that proves where you were, what you did, what you earned, and what happened while you were there. Make copies. Save PDFs. Back them up somewhere YOU control. Because 5, 10, or 20 years from now, you may need a document you haven’t thought about in years. Maybe it’s for a VA claim. Maybe it’s retirement. Maybe it’s a job. Maybe it’s proving you completed training or earned an award. Maybe somebody says, “We don’t have a record of that.” And that’s when you open the binder. 😏 We used to call them I Love Me Binders because they were basically a collection of everything you’d accomplished. But looking back? That binder wasn’t about ego. It was about evidence. Never assume someone else will maintain your records better than you will. Make the copy. Save the email.
