@ayivox: What if this is bigger than just a parking project? What if this is the beginning of a new chapter for Okap? A reported $10 million investment could bring major new development to Cap-Haïtien. But before we celebrate, the people of Okap deserve answers. How many JOBS will this project create? Will the construction workers come from Okap? Will Haitian engineers, electricians, truck drivers, security companies and local contractors be given an opportunity to participate? Will young people who are unemployed right now finally have another place to find work? And will Haitian businesses surrounding this project actually benefit? Because $10 million coming into Okap should mean more than concrete, steel and parking spaces. It should mean PAYCHECKS. It should mean BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES. It should mean Haitian families being able to build a better future. And imagine what happens if this project succeeds. Could one major investment attract another? Could hotels, restaurants, shopping centers and other businesses follow? Could Okap become one of the strongest economic centers in Haiti? Could Northern Haiti show the rest of the country what development can look like? Foreign investment could be an opportunity. But the people of Okap cannot simply watch development happen around them. They need to be PART of it. So here’s the question we should all be asking: If millions of dollars are invested in Okap… HOW MUCH OF THAT MONEY WILL ACTUALLY REACH THE PEOPLE OF OKAP? And if this project creates hundreds of opportunities for Haitians, would YOU support it? Okap ak dyaspora — pale avè n. Kisa pwojè sa a ta vle di pou avni Okap? Follow AYIVOX. Vwa Ayiti. This would be a great idea with the Chinese since the DIASPORANS failed doing the same thing as a group. Chinese making HISTORY in Haiti while Haitiens stuck in the 1800's. 😭

The people will benefit one way or an other. The parking building is needed. It will bring more real businesses in the city. More real businesses in the city mean more job opportunities for the people.
