As a nurse, we are verbally and physically attacked on a regular basis and I’ve only known a couple of times where police actually arrest the patient. Most times nothing happens.

As a nurse myself there is no severe legal consequences. In fact hospital administrators will ask you “what could you the nurse have done different” nurses have been fired for pressing charges on a patient who assaulted them.

PSA: My best friend was the victim, she’s a patient observer not a nurse so she’s even less protected, it was very much so real and NOT training and no details will be given since the case is on going. Point blank period as a healthcare worker myself, not one of our staff should be subjected to any type of harassment or assault, for any reason in the slightest and that’s that.

It’s not ok to hit and scratch anyone. Especially a medical professional. Period. And to those say what about staff that harm patients…..no. As a medical professional for many years no staff wants to hurt anyone. We do our best to care for patients.

That’s BS!! I tried to press charges on a patient and the district attorney wouldn’t do it! Nurses get abused all the time and get nowhere pressing charges. Touch police and your butt is thrown in jail.
