@beck.lifts4: Some foods aren’t “bad,” but they’re so calorie-dense and easy to eat that your portion can get out of control fast. 1️⃣ Peanut butter A couple large spoonfuls can add hundreds of calories without making you feel very full. 2️⃣ Granola It looks light, but a small bowl can contain far more calories than expected—especially with yogurt, milk, or honey. 3️⃣ Nuts Nutritious, but very easy to eat by the handful. A few handfuls can equal the calories of a full meal. 4️⃣ Cereal Most people pour much more than one serving, then add milk and refill the bowl without realizing the total. 5️⃣ Trail mix Nuts, chocolate, dried fruit, and seeds make it extremely calorie-dense and easy to keep eating. 6️⃣ Chips They’re light, salty, and don’t fill you up much, which makes it easy to finish several servings. 7️⃣ Dried fruit Removing the water makes the portion much smaller, so you can eat a lot more calories than you would from fresh fruit. 8️⃣ Restaurant appetizers Fries, chips and dip, bread baskets, and shared starters can add hundreds of calories before your actual meal arrives. None of these foods need to be completely removed. Just stop eating them straight from the bag or container. Put a portion on a plate, measure calorie-dense foods when needed, and pay attention to how quickly the calories add up. The foods you barely notice are often the ones quietly pushing you out of your deficit. Save this if you’re trying to lose fat without wondering where all your calories went.
