First of all I love this Lolol but I read the caption and wanted to let you know the UV lamp might help a bit with the feathers but the big thing is diet! I would guess by the look of him he’s eating a seed diet, that’s the culprit of many issues like that. Any good avian vet will insist on pellets over seeds—TOPS brand is the best but Harrison’s is sometimes easier to switch them to. Feel free to DM me:)

Mine was feather plucking like crazy and bloodwork showed that he had hypercalcemia/ hyperphosphatemia despite having perfect kidney/liver enzyme levels and nothing else wrong… turns out it was essentially vitamin toxicity from fortified seed mixes and pellets specifically vitamin d3 which had been causing an overabundance of free calcium/phosphate in his blood stream. At first I thought it was a lack of vitamin d so I got a UVB lamp but that actually made it worse. I’ve completely removed fortified synthetic vitamins/minerals and he’s only on biodiversity blends for seeds and TOPs organic pellets + his daily veg. He gets other seeds as treats but absolutely only one ingredient kinds in moderation… Now I DO supplement with UVB, since his diet no longer provides what he’d be getting from the synthetics. he’s been doing much better but the picking has likely become behavioural at this point

TOPs organic pellets need supplements alongside them, and therefore they aren’t the best! I was using them for a long time and my bird was having some issues with her gut because nobody had told me about the additions needed. I’d recommend switching to Harrison’s organic premium pellets !! Their regular ones have unsafe ingredients like peanuts but they have a line called HOPP that’s really good, it’s what I use now :)
