@nicknamed.bree: NON-NEGOTIABLE if your goal is to make it work with an avoidant who is doing the work & healing their attachment wounds. And just a reminder that I have a disorganized attachment style &, at one point, leaned heavily avoidant. But I have lived on both sides of the attachment spectrum. #avoidant
Ok I found girl tiktok. Question for yall. Me and her have been talking for 6 weeks. I was a little overwhelming at first but she saw it that was because she’s having trouble mentally and with other stuff outside with us and that made my overwhelming side very bright to her. Ladies how do I help her thru that time. We’re in our late 20’s. Shes an ovethinker

Why can’t Avidant learn our language or communicate normally? 🤔🤯🤯🤯

Me and my avoidant girl actually created our own entire language of terms and words and phrases that would make absolutely no sense to anyone else under the sun

Why “avoidant”? We are trying to label their behaviour and I don’t understand it. Maybe he’s just not interested anymore, it’s that simple.

I don’t think learning the language of an avoidant is about babying them and excusing them from the work they have to put into themselves but rather about trying to meet them in the middle. Healing takes time, and sometimes you end up taking a step backwards instead of forwards, but that’s just how it goes. Understanding the psychology behind is a tool to give them grace and understanding without being left confused. If you don’t have the bandwidth to put in all this extra work then that’s perfectly fine. But if you do have the means and are willing to put in this effort in order to make that relationship work then this is just a tool.

I was just telling my FA partner last night, (I am also FA but different presentation, more anxious lean and internal shoe drop prep without the running, and more healed than him), that people with attachment wounds aren't broken, they are just running on outdated software that needs multiple patches to get up to current code. He really liked that analogy. Lol. At the time, said software was exactly what was needed, and working as intended. It just never got the future patch updates so it takes a bit to get caught up. xD

I agree. it's really about empathy and communication. now, nobody can make and avoidant want to work on themselves, or a relationship. this isn't about chasing or manipulating them or gaslighting ourselves. it's the work of being in a relationship with anyone. however, understanding where they are coming from (the history, hows, and whys) can serve us anyway; even when it's time to say goodbye. understanding that avoidant behaviors are responses to nervous system triggers can allow us to let go in an easier way.

I just can never tell if she's not interested enough or acting like this because she loves me but that's also the reason to avoid me 🤡

I believe in avoidant, and anxious we are all to heal with ourselves, but to understand the other. It’s not one-sided. We can learn to understand and avoidant and how they think but reciprocation on learning how an anxious or even a secure person how we go through. It’s not fair for just one person to take the hit and have to fit into someone attachment. Both heal, both learn eachother
