people getting mad at the nurse don’t work in healthcare and simply don’t understand how the nature of being short staffed can really affect the flow of an entire unit. Nurses are tirelessly working to manage every little thing and there’s certain matters that are out of their control.

I was in the hospital for a kidney infection that went septic. I wasn't allowed to use the bathroom on my own. I hit the call button like 5 times and no one came. I was in so much pain holding my pee. I tried to get up but the second my feet touched the ground I got a shooting pain up my back and I collapsed. I laid on the floor for about 5-10 minutes waiting for the pain to go away. I tried calling out to the nurses. no one came. they were laughing together out in the hall. I crawled to the bathroom and back. the hospital low-key sucks

My aunt was a woman of color. Drs told her she went into remission & she didn’t. She went a few months without treatment and because of those Dr.s she passed from pancreatic cancer. We all need to speak up about health care for those who are not white.

I was discharged 2 days after having a horizontal c section. 2 days later I was readmitted with an infection in my incision and had to stay almost 2 weeks. I told the discharge nurse my stomach was hurting and my incision was hot, she pushed me out the door anyway with a prescription for 3 pain pills. They do treat women of color very differently and don't be on Medicaid, they literally dgaf about you.

She just told you. "Short staffed.". Medical personnel can only do so much. She's overwhelmed. Hire more and keep them with higher pay and benefits.

When I was in the hospital for a broken ankle, they had to do surgery and put in plates, screws and wires. I was supposed to get pain meds every 4 hours while I was in the hospital. The night nurse came in and asked me if I was asleep should she wake me and I said yes. She never came. At hour 6 I paged the nurses, they said they would be on their way and never came. It took till my surgeon came in till I even got pain meds. I had to be in tears and angry yelling before anyone did anything. The health system doesn’t care about black people.
