@history_seeker1: These Tiny Fish Disappear In Seconds 🐟 These tiny fish rapidly hide beneath floating leaves for several important survival reasons. The leaves provide natural cover from predators while making the small fry much harder to see against the darker surface of the water. The leaves also create a calmer microhabitat. Water movement is often weaker beneath floating vegetation, allowing the young fish to conserve energy instead of constantly fighting the current. At the same time, the shadow and cover of the leaves help reduce their visibility from above, where many predators hunt. For many species, aquatic vegetation is one of the first safe habitats available to young fish after hatching or birth. What looks like a simple school disappearing under a leaf is actually a combination of camouflage, shelter, energy conservation, and instinctive predator avoidance. That’s interesting because they’re not going under it they’re actually blending into it or they know they can blend into it, which is kind of crazy😅

Let’s appreciate that if the fish in the very back tried to surge to the front, they would end up coagulating with the fish in between, potentially allowing a predator to consume a greater total % of the shoal of minnows. By intelligent design, the minnows get where they are going in the safest fashion. The minnows in the back are not inept, and the minnows that went earlier are not superior - they all have a purpose ❤️🌎
