Heard about 30 different variations of this story. It’s more of a military version of an urban myth/joke. You could imagine this added to an after dinner speech at a mess dinner with a big laugh at the end but there is no evidence that this ever happened in reality.

Heard a story online about Gurkhas hunting the taliban and they were told to bring back proof of the kill so showed up at HQ with the guys head in a bag. The CO said a photo would have been enough. Don’t know if that’s true or not, sounds cool though 😁
