@drdavidabbasi: Not every popular exercise is actually good for your joints. Here are 5 I regularly see leading to injuries in clinic: 🚫 Leg extensions with excessively heavy weight — at full extension, this puts intense direct stress on the patellofemoral joint and can seriously strain the ACL, especially risky for anyone with prior knee issues. 🚫 Smith machine squats — the fixed bar path forces your knees and hips through a locked, unnatural movement pattern instead of letting your body move the way it's designed to, often loading the knees incorrectly. 🚫 Behind-the-neck presses — this position puts the shoulder into an extreme, vulnerable range of motion, a common setup for rotator cuff impingement and strain. 🚫 Weighted sit-ups with feet anchored — repeatedly loading the spine in this position creates excessive compressive stress on the lumbar discs over time. 🚫 Box jumps from excessive heights — without proper landing mechanics, this is a fast track to ACL tears, Achilles strain, and ankle injuries. ✅ None of these mean "never do these movements," it means prioritize proper form, appropriate loading, and controlled range of motion over ego lifting. Train smart. Your joints have to last you a lifetime. 💪 ✅Follow @drdavidabbasi for More Daily Medical Content & Health Tips! 📍Schedule a consultation in Delray Beach! Visit www.primeorthocenter.com

Iridescent Mind :
I was just talking to Google about this! Sudden knee pain started 6 months ago....but I stopped taking the stairs a month or two before that. I religiously took the stairs at work for YEARS. Keeping our muscular strength up helps prevent a lot of injury!
