no they are not. chained to a perch is not a satisfying life for anyone. even if they cannot fly due to injury they still deserve a larger aviary outdoors.

i cant imagine a life of such imprisonment, but i guess humans perfer theirs systemic than stationary. i feel terrible for them.

japan has pretty bad animal welfare laws as far as i know, at least when compared to the states. i personally would never give my money to wild animal cafes (and even with domestic animals be careful)

owl cafes are not humane, owls have very small brains and get stressed very easily, the only reason they look calm is because after being exposed to such high stress for so long they kind of just freeze up and that’s their way of dealing with it
