Do you think people simply started speaking Arabic around 700 CE? Arabs existed as a distinct people for thousands of years before Islam and before the Quran was written. The Afroasiatic language family also predates Islam by thousands of years. Its origins are generally placed somewhere in Northeast Africa or the Levant.

As a Christian/Jew, this makes complete sense since I believe Arabs are descendants of Ishmael, son of Hagar, an Egyptian woman. It's not far-fetched to believe that she also could've been a descendant of East Africans.
