@ohheydimples: I always just try to buy more than they ask for, but also like do the $22 pencils really work better than the $8 pack? #backtoschoolshopping #teachertok #proscrastinator #momlife #typecmom

I honestly do not give a shit if I did not buy name brand but most of the things I did buy from my son’s list was namebrand except for the glue sticks because I got the Walmart brand and it was as described on the list, it just wasn’t Elmer’s

My issue is the 4 ounce play Dough on list. They are only sold in 3 ounce tubs.

If a specific brand is mentioned, try to get that even if the quantity is different. In the cup instance, I would go with the type of cup requested as opposed to size. Teacher here-just what I would prefer.

Teacher here .... pencils and coloring supplies are most important to please be name brand!! Glue and scissors can be generic, it will work fine enough. Please buy crayola. Please buy ticonderoga pencils sharpened or unsharpened over any other pencils - seriously cheap wood pencils destroy my electric sharpener. I would rather have quality over quantity. If I ask for 6 glue sticks but you buy 2 or 4 then thats okay, we'll adjust!!! Just buy the name brand pencils pleaseeeeee!!!!! 🥰😁

Crayola crayons and Ticonderoga pencils are superior to the other brands. I would go with name brand for those. Buy the unsharpened if you can’t find sharpened.

Brand over quantity, paper 6oz would be perfect. rice and beans are for sensory play, kind doesn't matter. The pencils being Ticonderoga is more important that being sharpened.

Teacher here, but middle school. Do what you can and if you can’t get everything, that’s okay. You can also ask when you do the back to school day. Ticonderoga or STAEDTLER is also a great option for pencils. Colored pencils/crayons/markers should be crayola and any arty supplies should be name brand if possible. Calculators if they are scientific or graphing ideally are Ti (Texas Instruments). These are what we as teachers are most familiar with and we can help your child when things go wrong on that brand. Everything else go with matching color and meeting the minimum (pages in particular for notebooks of paper), brand doesn’t matter.

Most of the time, teachers put brands on the list because that's due to many years of trial and error and those brands yield the best results. But, end of the day, get what you can. From my experience in preschool, I would give the kids one color of play doh at a time, to help with color recognition, and beans/rice are to put in sensory bins or for math lessons, so brands don't matter

Brands do work better, especially Ticonderoga pencils. They sharpen more evenly and the erasers actually erase. 5 oz sizing is most important because it’s an easy size for kids to hold. Rice and beans are likely for sensory play so type doesn’t matter, get the cheap stuff! Coming from a substitute teacher!

just do your best, the teachers will be grateful for whatever you can give. if they mention a brand try to stick to it, there is a reason if they add the brand. for the rice or beans, it's probably for sensory tables, has to be dry, cheapest and biggest bag you can get.

Quantity is forgivable. You can always send in more later. Name of pencil brand matters- do it. Those pencils will be used up and gone so fast. Paper over plastic cups every day.

if you have a pretty young kid I'm guessing beans and rice would be for like a sensory table in which case it literally does not matter what kind. Honestly the bigger variety the better.

Ticonderoga always, you can sharpen them at home before sending. I've done lol. then I crossed out the "un"-sharpened.
